About the Rothman-Ranawat Traveling Fellowship

Named to honor the significant contributions, and to preserve the legacy, of Richard H. Rothman, MD, PhD and Chitranjan S. Ranawat, MD, The Hip Society’s Rothman-Ranawat Traveling Fellowship is open to four (4) young orthopaedic surgeons from North America (USA and Canada), and throughout the world.  Once selected, the traveling fellows visit up to ten (10) sites in North America as identified by the Fellowship & Mentorship Committee.  The host sites structure the fellows’ visits to include personal interaction, conferences, surgical observations, and cadaver labs.  The ultimate goal of the fellowship is to offer the young surgeons an inspirational tour of state-of-the-art facilities providing exemplary surgical care of the hip joint throughout North America. MORE

THE HIP SOCIETY - BRITISH HIP SOCIETY TRAVELING FELLOWSHIP

"The travel itinerary afforded little time for reflection, but ample time for in depth discussion.  Seeing how excellent results can be achieved utilizing tactics previously unfamiliar to me, and reasoning through the clinical decisions made with someone from a completely different background, made for a brilliant experience.   I learned many helpful techniques, gained multiple gracious colleagues, and left the United Kingdom motivated to continue learning. I would encourage anyone interested in expanding their knowledge of hip arthroplasty to apply."

Brian C. Fuller, MD, 2019 Hip Society-British Hip Society Traveling Fellow

After a pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related travel restrictions, we hope to resume the program in 2022.  Please check back soon for further updates.
